Last week recap...good times!!!

Tuesday - Had an interview with the Utah Dept of Insurance. I had received a call from the Dept of Insurance the previous Friday wanting me to come in for an interview. I had applied for this job a few weeks prior, and honestly thought I had no chance on evening landing an interview. Don't get me wrong...I have plenty of experience in the insurance industry, and I was able to answer every application question exceptionally, but in my mind I figured that since I had applied for about a dozen or so other state jobs, and have been on the job hunt for quite some time, I just wouldn't actually stand a chance. Well folks, I got an interview! And, it went pretty well.

Wednesday - While not trying to get my hopes up about landing the above mentioned position, I received a phone call from the body shop where I had taken my car a week earlier for repair of my damages (see previous post). And, I might update that I was able to get my car taken care of with no expense coming out of my pocket! The other insurance company accepted full liability and everything was turning out great! I was given a cute little Mazda to drive and everyone and everything was so nice. Anyway, I got a call that my car was all finished and ready to be picked up. I went on my lunch break and picked up my cute little car...it looked so nice. Thanks to Central Collision for making everything look perfect! And to top it off, they even detailed it. I am quite certain that my car was cleaner at that very moment, than when I had purchased it from Carmax. Awesome!!!

Friday - Work started out extremely slow. You see, my bosses were out all week so it was just me holding down the fort, and by close of business on Thursday I had completed all necessary tasks and by 10:30 on Friday, was completely done with all work needing my attention (i.e. emails, voicemails, etc). I could just tell that the only positive coming out of this day was the fact that it was Friday and each hour was moving me closer to the coming weekend. I spent the remainder of the morning browsing the internet, checking my emails and playing my new favorite game on my phone, Temple Run. I took my lunch at the usual time and returned to work to continue my fun and answering the occasional incoming phone call. Then 3:30 hit....2 hours left of my day and my cell phone rings. It's the Dept of Insurance and they would like to offer me the position. Wait, what??? You want me??? Really?? I was so excited, so of course I accepted the position and will be starting on March 5th! I will finally be in a position with benefits, growth opportunity, and something I can consider more of a career than just another dead end CSR job. I know this will be an awesome opportunity, and who wouldn't love to report the the State Capitol everyday, right???

I must say, this week has been by far one of the better weeks I have had in a very very very long time. I am excited for my new adventure. Not so excited to have to go in on Monday to inform my bosses that I am leaving in 2 weeks, but definitely excited to be starting something bigger and better!

Spectacular!

So yeah...the hits just keep on coming!! I was driving home on this lovely Friday evening when all of a sudden a lady in a blue mustang decides she would like to make a very illegal u-turn in front of me. Why you ask...who knows...these Utah drivers sure make it interesting on a frequent basis! And no, I do not consider myself a Utah driver!!

My story begins as I enter a little street on my way to the Draper post office. I am driving behind a mustang who appears to be slowing down to enter the McDonalds parking lot. She slowly moves to the right, no blinker I might add, and seems to be making the turn. Out of the blue she flips to the left, again no blinker, and makes her illegal u-turn as I slam on my brakes and t-bone her! Fantastic! Even better...not even 50 feet away is a round-a-bout where she could have easily gone around and ended up safely where she needed to be!!! So I calmly....ok that's a lie since I am not a calm person...called the police and waited for them to arrive. I was slightly concerned that I was going to be at fault as I was the one who hit her. However, I was found fault free and she was cited as at fault....thank goodness!! Now I just have to file a claim and wait to get my poor little car fixed....this does not help my OCD! It is already bugging me knowing my car is damaged.

Anyway, I am grateful I was not at fault and that no one was hurt, but I am sure the world is out to get me...a little break would be very much appreciated please...thanks!
