Christmas Cheer

The past few days have really helped get me in the Christmas mood. Here are a few pics of the past few days.

First stop....Disneyland. Christmas is just not Christmas without a trip to Disneyland. Everything is so pretty. Even better was the fact we were celebrating my dear friend Heidi's b-day!! So fun!

On Friday, my mom and I headed down to Newport for the Newport Boat Parade. We were invited by some friends to go. We had so much fun eating, laughing, talking, and enjoying the lights!! Wonderful evening!

Finally, tonight we went over to Riverside to the Mission Inn. They have a wonderful light display and we even took a horse drawn carriage ride around the mission. It was fun, but super crowded.
Now that my shopping is done, the presents are wrapped, and I have enjoyed a few nights of Christmas goodness, Christmas can come!! Love this time of year. Merry Christmas!!

A time for firsts...

So last night....or rather very early this morning I attended my first midnight showing. New Moon. WOW. After 7 hours of chatty and screaming girls and their 40 year old mothers, I was able to enjoy this new movie. I must admit that I liked it much better than the Twilight movie. The acting was by far better...still room for much improvement, but not as painful to watch!! And, I must also admit that it was kinda fun sitting outside for 4 hours freezing my butt off while waiting for them to let us in so we could wait another 3 hours for the movie to start.

It was entertaining to watch these teenage girls interact with each other. It makes me laugh to think that I was once like that. The odd thing about the evening is that I was not annoyed at all by the high pitched voices and screams. I was actually very amused! I usually have no patience.....you see, I hate teenagers (most of them) and find that their conversations are rather trivial and pointless. I know I was one of them not that long ago, and I'm sorry to anyone who had to listen to my ridiculous life drama at the time!!! LOL!! The time went slow at first, but actually picked up once we got inside and were warm. It was fun hanging with my dear friend Heidi and her bro and friend, Gabe.

Overall, good night. I am super tired today, so work is gonna be joyful!! Can't say that I'd do this again, but who knows. At least I can check this off my list!!!

Where does the time go??

Can you believe it's November already??? Where does the time go?? It feels like just yesterday that we were entering the year 2009, and now we are nearing the year 2010. WOW!! Life is so busy right now that I feel my life is going in fast forward and I can't find the pause button. EEEK!! Anyway, I do love this time of year...everything about it!! The smells, the weather (although I wish it was colder), the sights, and yes...the music. I am one of these that turns the Christmas on during the Thanksgiving week. Things I'm looking forward to:

1.) Christmas music

2.) Yummy food

3.) Spending time with family

4.) School being done....for good....graduation here I come!!!

5.) Making Christmas cookies

6.) Looking at Christmas lights

Now all I need to do is focus on enjoying the season. This will be challenging given my current situation.

In other news the Scentsy Warmer of the Month follows. It is super cute. There is also an entire Christmas collection that can be seen on scentsy.com or on my website at wendyreves.scentsy.us

Knott's Scary Farm

So this past Friday, I was able to go to Knott's Scary Farm with a few friends and it was a blast! We got through every maze and had many opportunities to be scared! We also captured a few photos of our night.

We had only been inside the park for a few short minutes and Charise had already made a friend. How sweet is he??? I seriously love the rat hanging out his mouth!! No but really, he was scary when he popped into our picture unexpectedly.

I am not particularly fond of clowns and this one was no exception! The thing sat there and the creepy jack-in-the-box music played and then all of sudden it would spring out and play really creepy loud jack-in-the-box music....CREEPY!!
Overall, great night, except that is was really hot and humid...YUCK!! I am officially ready for Halloween!!

Calling In

I have, on several occasions, attempted to unsuccessfully call in to various radio stations when they offer promotional items such as concert tickets or lets say...... 4 tickets to the Halloween Horror Nights at Universal!!! This week, I have been and am still on a mission. I am actively trying to call and actually get through so I can be awarded my prize. Well folks, it is Wed night and I have been unsuccessful. However, my hope of winning has been ignited. On Mon I called in and it wasn't busy...I was caller 9....needed to be 20. Then on Tues, I called in to participate in the secret celebrity contest, which is separate from the caller 20 deal. I got through...YES....but did not win....SUCK!! Oh well....I was on the radio...live...awesome, right!?!? Well, I am still on a mission to win tickets so I called this morning and was caller 18...UGH!!! Well, there are a couple days left this week so wish me luck!!!

Random Facts

1.) I am ready to graduate. After spending 8 1/2 hours on sat with my group and another 6 hours on Sunday working on my project, I am done with presentation number one and can now begin to work on number two!! Yay me! Our group presentation did go well however, and I am hoping that my team is the winning team...only one team gets their proposal chosen...STRESS!!

2.) I had a pretty successful Scentsy party tonight and am ready to start selling it. The scent of the month smells so good, meaning my house smells amazing right now!!! I don't know what I'm thinking though. I don't have time for this right now, but need more money!!! Yay for new adventures.

3.) Halloween is coming up and I am seriously excited. Next to Christmas, Halloween is my favorite holiday!! I am going to Halloween Haunt in the next couple of weeks and am so looking forward to that!! Plus, I am also excited for fall....love the cooler weather!!

4.) I was invited..actually I asked for the invite, by my friend Heidi to be part of this monthly cooking club. I am happy about this because I love to cook and this will give me some good ideas. Yay for Heidi and her great idea!! Happy Cooking!!

Obsession

So I have a horrible and time consuming obsession. I am obsessed with the interent...and by that I mean email, facebook, and blogs. I am seriously sick....no really!! I probably check my email like 10-15 times per day, I have facebook open on my computer all the time when I am at work or home, and I am a blog stalker. I absolutely love checking peoples blogs to find out what is going on in their lives. I really need to get a new hobby...this is a sickness and I need serious help!!!

Scentsy

So I have decided to embark on a new adventure. I am going to become a Scentsy Consultant. For those that are unfamiliar with the product, it is sort of like a flameless candle. It is a warmer that melts wax. They smell wonderful and do not get very hot...meaning no fire threat. And, becasue they don't get hot....these things are safe around pets and kids..BONUS!! I love candles, but sometimes forget to blow them out...DANGEROUS!! With Scentsy you can leave them on all day. I am having a party in a couple of weeks and will be a consultant after that. Please let me know if you want to book a party or if you want to order anything. I am super excited to make a little extra money and enjoy myself while doing so.

Recent Happenings

Recently I....

have been so incredibly busy with school, that I have been losing much needed sleep at night. I am so tired and it is only the 4th week...seriously. I'm not sure how much of this I can take. I am in the most time consuming, confusing class this semester and it seriously consumes most of my life. For instance, yesterday was a real blast. I had work, then institute, and then it was off to meet with my group at 6:30 where we spent a lovely 3 hours discussing what we are going to do. Then, I got to drive 1/2 hour home, where I was finally able to eat dinner and begin that evening's homework. Bed finally became a reality at about 1:30am with a 6:30am wake up call that very same morning. I'm pretty sure, it is not beneficial for me to be eating at 10pm and getting an average of 5 hours of sleep per night, especially since I'm trying so desperately to shed some extra pounds!!

had the privilege of trying something I have never done before. I am the music chair in my ward and was asked to lead our singles ward choir for the Sat session of stake conference. Sigh. Even better, was the fact that I had never heard the song before. Though I was incredibly nervous, and stressed (there was a General Authority there), I managed to do a pretty good job. I got so many compliments and my choir did an amazing job...YAY!! Success!!

have taken on the challenge to lose weight. I have been trying to go to the gym regularly and have been making a somewhat unsuccessful attempt to eat better. It is sort of working. I have lost about 12 lbs so far, but have a long way to go if I want to fit into my dress by Oct. My mom has 30 years at Edison and they have a formal dinner event that I get to go to. Must lose more weight!!!

The Writings on the Wall

I have always found it really fascinating and a bit odd that people feel the need to share personal secrets or events on the walls of the stalls in the bathroom. I mean really? Do I really want or need to know the Kelly is a *#&%@ or that Michelle was here?? No, I really do not. As nice as Michelle may be, I don't care that she had been in that same exact stall...I'm sure thousands of others have been there as well!!!

Well, I was at school today and happened to walk into a stall where someone had written their short term goals on the wall. Don't get me wrong, I was very entertained while using the facilities. I learned that somewhere on the CSUF campus there is a girl who would like to lose 10lbs, get rid of her "muffin top", and find a job. Great, I am so glad you shared that with me...now I'll able to get through the rest of my day!! There was also another little message and a response to that message. However, I will spare you the details as they are rather inappropriate and have really no purpose.

Come on people, are you really that bored?!?! Please spare us all the personal and intimate secrets of your life!!

Senioritis

Well, today marked the beginning of yet another semester and let's just say, this is gonna be one long semester. For those that have done the whole college thing, I'm sure you catch my drift? For those in the process or chose a different route, think back to last semester of Senior year of high school...SENIORITIS. I have self diagnosed myself with this disease and am officially mentally done with school. It is terrible. I have no desire to do anything, and the worst part, it that this is the single most important semester of my life!!! UGH! 16 weeks seems like an eternity at this point and only bad thoughts come to mind when I think about school so think I will stop this rant!!!!

On a happier note, I will be done after this semester and will try my luck in the career hunting department!! I am so looking forward to moving on and not having school run my life!!! It doesn't actually seem real...sometimes I still feel like a kid, not someone who is approaching the mid-20 range ready to emerge as a responsible adult in society. Anyway, I will make it through and am overall super excited to get this over with...

D-I-S-GUSTING!!

So for the last couple of nights my cats have been hanging out around the refrigerator, our shoes, and other such inspect type hiding places. We just assumed that there was a small spider or something and that they would eventually kill it, as that is what cats do! Well, we were wrong. Last night one of my cats was sitting by our front door meowing constantly. My mother walked over and there, in the crevice of the wall and the floor was none other than a baby scorpion. Um, disgusting!!! I knew we got them here in Chino Hills, but I have never actually seen one before. For those that might be curious I took a picture of it right before we flushed it!!!

Seein' Strips

Yes, that's right! The animal you are looking at is a zebra. This lovely animal resides in beautiful Chino Hills, CA. Crazy, right!!! I didn't even know you could own a zebra. I had heard from some other people that they had seen a zebra here, but I had never seen it. The other day I was driving by and the zebra was out, so naturally I had to take a picture. Gotta love it!!!

YSA Conference

This past weekend was spiritually uplifting, fun-filled, and very exhausting. The state of California participated in a statewide young single adult conference for our church. It is the first time the church has attempted anything to this magnitude and though it was a bit chaotic, it was also tons of fun.

We started Saturday nice an early at 8am, which means I had to be up at 6am to get to LA by 8. My ward was in the LA Temple district. We had an opening meeting, followed by speed dating.....a little crazy, but ultimately not so bad, workshops, and a dance to end the evening at 11:30pm. Then I got to drive home, to wake up six hours later to be back at our place for a 10am Sacrament meeting. It was so neat to see the Sacrament passed to approx. 1000 people. It only took about 30 min and was like watching a production. Everything was perfect and nobody was skipped.

Overall, I had a great weekend. There were a few things that should have been done differently, but overall, nice job California. Not bad for a test run!!

A New Commitment

I came home from work yesterday and my dear mother had a surprise waiting for me. Costco (one of the best places to obtain such wonderful said surprises) has had a 24 hour fitness 2 year gym pass for $300 which comes to about $12/month. I have been wanting one for some time now, but couldn't afford to spend $300 all at once. Well..... I came home yesterday and found that my mother had purchased one for her (she gets reimbursed from work) and one for me!!! YAY!!! Now I just need to stay motivated and actually use it!!! We shall see.....

My Own Little Light Show

This past weekend, for the 4th of July, I went up to St. George with my mom to surprise my grandma. I had a plane ticket to use before the end of the year (the fiasco I had back in Feb resulted in a travel voucher) so I decided to use it. On the flight over there, we got to see our own little fireworks show. There was lightning flashes with the occasional bolt to the ground that lasted for about half an hour. It was so awesome to see it out the window. We were above it and it was going on continuously, one right after the other. This pic was the best I could get. I literally had to just keep clicking until I finally got one.

Dull and Boring

I know it's been awhile, but it's only because nothing exciting or blog worthy has occured. School is out and I am interning with So Cal Edison which has been really fun. Other than that, not much is going on. My life has been boring and uneventful for the past month or so. Maybe I should google blog topics to come up with something....LOL!

I did it!!!!

As many of you probably know, I have not been able to make puffy, moist chocolate chip cookies. I have used different ingredient brands, I've beat the heck out of them, I've barely beat them at all, I've used crisco instead of butter, I have tried different temps for the oven, and lastly, I've used different recipes. NOTHING. Each batch would come out just as paper thin as the last. Don't get me wrong, they tasted okay, but they looked like crap!

Well, my cousins came down from Utah about a month ago and I informed them of my little problem and how embarrassing it is that I can't make a decent batch of cookies. Thanks to them, I can now do it. Above is a picture of the cookies that I just recently made all by myself. Look how puffy they are! And, they tasted wonderful. YAY....I did it!

10 of my favorite things that start with the letter "T"

I got this from my friend Kelly's blog. She gave me a letter and now I have to come up with 10 of my favorite things that all start with "T." This was fun, but a bit hard for me to think of things. If you want to do this too, leave me a comment and I will give you a letter.

1.)Talking- Though I seem a bit quiet, that is actually not the case. I love to talk even if it is just pointless chatter. I can seriously talk your ear off!

2.)Thursdays - This is my easiest day of the week. I am home early and I get to watch my favorite show, The Office

3.)Tuna Sandwiches - I really do like this tasty little sandwich. It is so delicious!

4.)Taking Naps - I seriously wish I could take a little nap every day. Sadly, Sunday is really the only day that I actually get to take them. They are oh so wonderful and super refreshing.

5.)Traveling - I love traveling. I really want to go to lots of places and see lots of things. I love to take at least one great trip every year.

6.)T.V. I actually probably watch too much. I have many favorite shows and enjoy watching t.v. to unwind and relax.

7.)Turtle Pie - The sweet chocolaty carmely goodness is delicious. I love carmel and I love chocolate making this a tasty treat!

8.)Thunder - I used to be slightly scared of thunder when I was younger, but now I look forward to thunder storms. I really wish we got more of them here in California.

9.)Tower of Terror - This is one of my favorite rides. It takes me by surprise every time! I absolutely must ride this one every time I go to California Adventure. I am so glad I have a pass again so I can ride it a lot!

10.)Tennis - Even though I completely suck, I love to play, or at least attempt to play. I actually think I do more running around to pick up the balls than I do actually hitting the ball back and forth. Oh well.....it's good exercise either way right?!?

Random Happenings

It's been awhile since I've posted, but that's only because my life, though busy, has been pretty uneventful. I am, however, so glad this week is over. Worked sucked and school double sucked. Two people were gone in my office on vacation this past week leaving just two of us in the office, and let me just say that people are RIDICULOUS!!! I literally had people telling me that I needed to leave the office to go do inspections for their clients.....excuse me!!!! People are so demanding, they don't ask, they demand.

Anyway....enough with work. School is annoying. I am so over going to school and doing homework. I had three essays due this week and had a teacher tell me that she is concerned over the number of absences I have. I have three...is that a lot?!? I think being concerned about that is a little over exaggerated! Also, I just found out this week that I may not be able to do my internship over the summer, which means that instead of being done with school in December, I won't be done until May of 2010...beautiful!!

Anyway, on a brighter note, this semester is almost done (4 weeks) and my cousins are coming down to go to Disneyland and Knotts. I can hardly wait!

As promised.....

.........here are the pics proving that I actually held and shot a gun! YAY!

What a Weekend....

This past weekend was lots of fun. A few of us from my ward decided to go camping/ shooting at Calico....in the middle of the desert, in the middle of nowhere!!! We left Friday night and arrived, safely, after a few mishaps at around 11pm. Saturday we went shooting. SO FUN!! I had never shot a gun before, and I must say I had tons of fun. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of me shooting yet, but I do have some of the others. I will post mine when they become available.

Fun times had by all!!!!

This Little Beauty

I realize that my birthday was a week ago, however, I am just now posting about it. I have been sooooooo busy with work and school!!

Anyway, on my birthday, I went to the happiest place on earth....Disneyland! Because I have a pass, I didn't get a free ticket, but I did get a $69 gift card that is good for up to a year. OH YEAH! Also, I have heard so much about the carmel apples at Disneyland, but had never tried one.....I know......how sad, I have been to Disneyland several times and have never had a carmel apple. So anyway, being that my birthday is a special occasion, I had to get one. Isn't it so cute? It had carmel on the inside and chocolate on the outside and it tasted so delicious!

I truly had a great birthday! Thank you to those that made my day special!!!!

Taking the Good With the Bad

So lately I feel like there are lots of things to be greatful for, but there have also been plenty of things to make me want to never get out of bed. It pretty much started last week with school. I am seriously beginning to think that this semester just might be the end of me. I am in my fourth week and things are getting really crazy. On Thursday I submittes the right project on the wrong topic. GREAT......so glad that I busted my butt getting it done to find out that it was not on the right subject !!

The second mishap came on Friday and coninued on through Saturday. My grandmother turned 90 this past Saturday and so my mom and I decided to go to St. George to celebrate her birthday. I have been asking for so much time off work so decided I could not drive with my mom on Friday and we didn't want to go Friday night becasue the cajon pass might be closed. Brilliant plan - My mom will drive up Friday morning and I will take the 30 seater aircraft straight into the 2 terminal airport located in St. George.....YAY!!! All is well and my flight leaves pretty much on time. Then about 50 ft from the ground in St. George, the pilot ascends rather quiclky back into the air and heads back to Vegas except that at that time we had no idea what was going on. We then arrive back in Vegas at 11pm vegas time where Unites Airlines tells us due to weather conditions we could not land in St. George and because it is weather related United is not responsible for compensation meaning your destination ends here.....really great. Anyway, 5 hours and a rental car later I arrived in St. Geroge at 5am....yes you heard that right!

My weekend was fun...it was nice being with family and spending time with Grandma, however, I am still catching up on sleep!!!

Now to top it all off, I am sick for the third time in a month.......I think I'm dying!!!

Good things, though, include: My brother being on a Mission! I am turning 22 in 3 days! I will be going to Disneyland on Sat.! And, I am loving my Harry Potter class. It is the only thing that keeps me going to school!!!

My Life in Numbers

15 - The number of days until my Birthday.....YAY!!!

5 - The number of hours I should spend catching up on reading for all my classes

30 - The number of minutes I might actually spend reading!!

3 - The number of times our post office has threatened to stop delivering our mail.......these jerks need to leave us alone.....believe me, you will not win!!!!

2 - The number of papers that I have due by next Tues......ugh! I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend.

1 - The number of hours I have left at work!!

10 - The number of hours I plan to sleep tonight....beautiful!!!

Hot Off the Presses

So another semester is under way and I must say that my life is pretty much going to be miserable for the next 4 months. I really don't know why I signed myslef up for 3 writing classes.......what was I thinking. One writing assignment due in each of the three classes once a week...UGH!!!

Anyway, you may be wondering what any of this has to do with the Harry Potter picture in the corner of this post. Well.........On top of the 3 writing classes, I have also enrolled in a Harry Potter class!! Yes, you read that right! It is a brand new class this semester and I am taking it becasue it satisfies one of my elective classes that I need for my minor. I am so excited for this class. On the first day, we were divided into the 4 different houses and we will be competing for the house cup throughout the whole semester. NICE!!!

Also, becasue this is the first time this class has been taught, our school newspaper is writing a piece on the class and came by today to take pics....it was hilarious.

YAY....GO HARRY POTTER!!!!

MTC Drop

For those that don't know, my brother has decided to serve a mission for our church for the next 2 years. He will be serving the people of Columbia, South Carolina after spending 3 weeks in the MTC (Missionary Training Center) in Provo, Utah . Last week we had the opportunity to go to Utah to drop him off and say our goodbyes.

The day started with breakfast at IHOP and then it was off to the MTC. It was a very special day and one that I will never forget. It was also so nice to have my grandparents there along with my cousin Joyce and John. I am also so proud of my brother and the choice that he has made to do this. I know that he will be greatly blessed for his sacrifice and service.

While we could have just flown up, dropped him off, and flown back that same day.....we decided to stay up for a few days and spend time with our cousins. We had such a great time eating, playing, and laughing. I truly love them and am grateful for the opportunity we had to spend time with them. Even now as I write this a part of me is crying inside becasue I am not there. Anyway, below are some pics from our dinner at the spaghetti factory, our day in the snow, and our trip to temple square......

The Happiest Place on Earth

I am so very happy that I finally have a Disneyland pass again. It has seriously been like 5 years or so since I have been to Disneyland and I have missed it!!!! Costco was having this deal where if you buy the deluxe pass, then they would give you a $50 gift card to use on anything disney like food, merchandise, or parking. So what's a girl to do......I had to get one!!! Well, I finally went to activate it on Friday and lucky me......they still had it decorated for Christmas. I love Disneyland at Christmas......it is sooooooo pretty!!!

Anyway, now I have a pass and can go whenever I want........YAY ME!!!

Those Little Things Called Resolutions!!

Being that New Years has just recently passed, I guess I should list a few things I plan to work on this year.
  • Losing weight....I think this is on my list every year. I should work on that!!
  • Exercise more.....this shouldn't be a problem cuz I love my new wii
  • Manage my finances better....this is such a problem for me
  • Become more studious in school....yeah right!!! I think this on my list every year too!!!!
  • Keep Organized!!!
  • Become less angry with people who can't drive......this is a big area for improvement. I don't know if I'll be able to conquer....but it's worth a try I suppose!!

Whew!! I think that's good for now. This will keep me busy enough!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years and I wish everyone all the best in 2009!!! Hey...it can't be any worse than 2008....or can it???
