The Curious Case of Missing Socks

Have you ever wondered where your socks go when you put them in the dryer? This has been a question of mine for quite some time. I always find it interesting that you start with two socks on your feet, you take them off and put them in the hamper, take them down to the washing machine, transfer them to the dryer, take them out to fold, and then when you get around to folding your socks, there seems to be one missing. Now if you're like me, then you go back to the washer to make sure one didn't get stuck to the inside, nope, not there. Next you look in the dryer to make sure you gathered all your clothes, nope, not there. Finally, you retrace all your steps, pull the couch cushions out, and dig all through your drawers to make sure that stupid sock has not been left behind. Nope, it is nowhere to be found. What happens to socks? If anybody has any idea, do share because I can't tell you how many socks my dryer has eaten!!!!!

Why is it.....

......that every time there is a rainy day, I have to go to work or school? It seems like every time a great storm rolls in, I am having to drag my butt out of bed at the crack of dawn only to find myself completely freezing and wishing I was still in my warm bed. Then to top it off, I have to run to my car to keep from getting completely soaked and drive on flooded roads so I can get to a place that I would rather not be at in the first place.

Instead, I would prefer to stay in bed late, get up and stay in my pajamas, put a log in the fireplace, turn on a good movie all while doing nothing and sipping hot chocolate. B-E-A-Utiful!!!!

Just a few Favorites

With Christmas less than two weeks aways, I am starting to make it a point to watch at least one Christmas movie a day. Some of my favorites include:
This movie is a classic.....I freakin love this movie

This movie is in some ways, better than the first. Not all movies can make it as sequels, but this is one that can. However, the third one??? Not so much. How can you make a third home alone and not have any of the same characters????

Another great movie!! The great sequel label does not apply to this one though. The second and
third are okay, but not great.

This movie is actually quite cheesy but when I was little, I watched every year and so it has become a tradition and though it is cheesy, I love it!

And last but not least, no Christmas is complete without the Grinch. I love the little who's in whoville. And I should mention that I prefer the cartoon version. The Jim Carey version is good, but the cartoon is classic.
How I love the holidays and the great holiday movies. HAPPY VIEWING!!!!!

Trippin'

I am such a procrastinator. Seriously, Thanksgiving is long gone and I am just now posting pics from my trip. I went to St. George and saw my cousins and my grandparents.

Yes, this is my cousin's wife Shahnaz and she is very happy.......she says that her sundae from McDonald's was spiked.......sure!!!!
Anyway, this pic cracks me up because we all look soooooo great. This is what happens when you take a picture at midnight after you have been laughing hysterically for the past 3 hours.

Picture of me, my brother, my mom, and my grandmother

My grandmother and her husband

My grandmother's husband's son and his wife - Rick and Cheryl. They are fun people. This is us at Applebees.

My cousin Joyce and her grandson Carter......I guess he would be my cousin too?!?! Families are confusing.
And lastly, this is my crazy cousin and his crazy wife....just kidding. They are completely normal, can't ya tell????
I don't have pics of all my family, unfortunately, because Emily is a camera hog (her words...not mine). Love ya Emily and this blog goes out to you!!!!
Overall, I had a great weekend and am so grateful that I was able to spend Thanksgiving with such wonderful people.

'Tis the season....

It seems like so much has happened in the past week or two!!

  • I had my surgery on the Monday before Thanksgiving........do not recommend doing this before a holiday!!! The doctor said it was the biggest stone he had seen...3.2cm. Anyway...I'm all good now......thank you to everyone who took care of me!!!!
  • Went to St. George to see my family for Thanksgiving.....I have not laughed that hard for a very long time........FYI, this was very painful due to recent surgery!
  • Drove 7 hours in car to get home so I could go back to work and school.......yay me!!!!
  • Put lights on house so the outside matches the inside.....now I am fully engulfed in Christmas goodness!!! My house looks like a Halmark store but I LOVE IT!!
  • Back to school and with 2 weeks left, I am drowning in essays, reading, and group projects......LOVELY!!
  • Christmas shopping is not done.........must gain courage to go out and fight the crowds!

I really do love this time of year (I am a bit of a Christmas nerd). I love the cookies, candy, lights, and cheerful people. I hope everyone has a great holiday season.

Yultide Joy!!!!!

So I was sitting at work this morning and the phone rings so I answer it like normal and it was a recording from Kost 103.5. Normally I would just hang up immediately but for some reason I decided to listen....who knows, maybe they were letting me know that I had just won a prize or a free vacation...... hey, a girl can dream can't she??? Anyway, they were calling to say that staring today they will be playing their Christmas music.......UM AWESOME!!!!!!!! So as I am writing this, I am rockin out to Christmas music at work. I know it is a bit early, but yes....I love Christmas music and now since a radio station is playing it, I feel like that gives me permission to bring my CD's out!!!! I am very excited for the Holiday's and am kicking off today by listening to my Christmas music. YAY!!!!

WE'RE BURNING UP............

..........well....not anymore......but over the weekend, it sure felt that way. I for one was a little worried that we were going to have to be evacuated. We were about 1/2 a mile away from one of the areas that was evacuated. On Saturday I think I got about 2 hours sleep....maybe. I kept waking up and each time, I could see the flames from Carbon Canyon a little closer than before. We even had our stuff packed up just in case. Here are a few pics from my house!!

These shots were taken before I actually saw flames......I tried to get pictures of that but it was too dark and was not showing up on my camera. Plus, the flames didn't make their appearance until about 1am and when I was outside....the coyotes were howling and it was a little scary!!!!
Anyway, I'm so glad that we didn't have to evacuate and my house was okay. My heart goes out to those that lost their homes and I am so thankful to those firefighters who worked round the clock to get these fires out and protect as many homes as possible.

It's Official......

........I will be going under the knife to have my gallbladder removed on November 24th. For those that don't know, I have a large stone in my gallbladder and so to prevent infection or blockage, it will be removed all together. It will be a laparoscopic procedure so the recovery time should be failry short so that will be good. I am just happy that I won't have to go through another attack. I imagine a heart attack would feel somewhat similar to what a gallbladder attack feels like.....I don't know......but I'm fairly sure. Anyway, besides that, everything else is good and I will gladly be accepting prayers as I am a tad bit nervous!!!!!!

For the Love of Your Job!!!

This past weekend I was out running around town and as I sat at a red light on the corner of Peyton and Chino Hills Pkwy, I saw something very amusing, so I thought I would share it with all of you!!! This picture is kind of crappy, but this is what happens when you see something blog worthy, and all you have is a cell phone! Anyway......I looked over and this guy(in his 60's or so) was holding one of those signs for model homes and was rockin' out with his iPod.......and when I say rockin' out.....I mean ROCKIN' OUT!!! It was very funny because he was very noticeable and very energetic. And, even after I had been gone for about an hour or so, when I passed this intersection again, he was still rockin' out just as hard as when I had first driven by. If only we all enjoyed our jobs as much as this guy!!!

Yes on 8!!!

I am so glad that the elections are alomst over. I can't believe how immature some people are being about this. I personally have lost a few friends over this issue. The thing that gets me is that apparently it is okay for them to have their beliefs, but it is not okay for me to have mine. I don't get it.

Anyway, I am voting yes on Prop 8 becasue I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman. I have nothing against homosexuals, however, I believe marriage is a sacred act between man and woman for the purpose of procreation. So please if you feel the same way, go out and vote YES ON PROP 8!!!!

Happy Halloween!!

I hope everyone has a Happy Halloween! I personally love Halloween...in fact, it is my favorite holiday next to Christmas. I really think it should be a federal holiday and everyone should have the day off. If it were up to me this would be the case. Unfortunately, it is not up to me and sadly I am at work.... bored, I might add. Anyway, tonight should be fun. I will either go to the Halloween dance at church, or I might just stay in and watch scary movies and eat lots of candy. Probably the later. I may go to the movies with a friend from work and then stay home and watch scary movies....I really don't know!! Regardless, it should be a pretty good night. My real fun was last Friday when I went to Halloween Haunt. This was so much fun until about 10pm when it got really crowded. Before that though, it was really fun and really scary!!! Good times!!

Happy Haunting!!!!

Shout Out to the Heath

I just wanted to take a moment and give a little shout out to the makers of this fabulous little candy bar. They are so freakin yummy. The only problem is that for some reason they can not be found in stores other than around halloween time. I guess that is a good thing, though, because I would be eating them all the time. Anyway, I have been eating one or more a day and am pretty much addicted to these things. The crunchy toffeeness wrapped in chocolate is just irresistible....and they go down so easily!!!! LOVE IT!!!!

What Shall I Do???

I have found that I am questioning a lot of things in my life right now and am so confused about what I should do and why I am having these feelings. It makes me think of that poem by Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken. In this poem it says, "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both." At this point I feel like I have multpile roads to travel and can only choose one. The problem is that I don't know which one to travel. One of the biggest things I am questioning is my future and what I want to do with my life. I am in my last year at Cal State Fullerton where, once finished, I will have a Bachelors Degree in Communications. For the past couple of weeks I have been questioning whether or not I really want to do this. Do I really want to work in an office from 9 to 5 and never do anything different from day to day??? Lately I have been thinking about teaching at the elementary level or going into nursing. When I was younger these two professions always intrigued me, but I never really thought about pursuing it. Anyway, hopefully with prayer and contemplation, I will know what I am supposed to do.

Another thingt that I have been questioning is what my pupose here on earth is. Things have gotten so hard lately and I find myself wondering if I am doing the right things and what my Heavenly Father has in store for me. With this Prop 8 situation there is so much controversy and I am having to make definite choices and do things that take me out of my comfort zone. I know things will be okay if I just follow God's commandments and edure to the end showing constant faith in the Lord.

Fall Fun

So I am really excited that Fall is here. I would have to say that Fall is my favorite season.....although, I really really am in love with winter too!!! Anyway, I love the colors, the smells, and most of all October is during Fall and Halloween is in October. I LOVE halloween and this year I am going to Knott's Halloween Haunt. I have not been for probably 6 or 7 years so I am excited to see all of the new mazes and what not. Now, I have to be honest....I am extremely scared but really excited. This may sound wierd but I actually like to be scared.....there is just somehting about it that is kind of exciting......I know I know.....but hey, I did say it was wierd. Anyway, the big day is Ocotber 24....one week before halloween. YAY!!!! Now all I have to do is figure out what I want to be for halloween and find something to do on halloween night!!!!!!

Time for a Movie Review

So last night I went to see this movie and I thought it was so good. I was action packed and full of suspense. It was one of those movies that when it's over, you say, "wow....what if that could actually happen?" Anyway, I would definetly recommend this movie.

Update......

I guess it is time for an update. I have been in school for like 5 weeks now and I am already up to my neck in busy-ness!!! I am taking a communications research class and this class so far has consumed most of my time and to top it off I am in a group that doesn't get along. There are 6 of us in the group and so trying to make time to meet is near impossible and we have crazy deadlines.

Then in one of my other classes, my teacher uses such an extensive vocabulary when conducting her class that I miss half of what she says. I guess it doesn't help that this is a 3 hour class that I take after 6 hours of being at work on a Monday!!!! Anyway, I will really have to rely on the book to get me through.

Last but not least, I am in my last year which makes this year just a bit more stressful. I am having to make sure that I am taking, have taken, or plan to take all the required classes. I also have to do an internship this summer and in order to do that I have to apply for the program, submitt a resume get approved, find an internship, and make it work with my already busy schedule. I am dealing with all of this while attending and trying to comprhend my classes, work to make money, sleep, eat, attend church meetings, and try to have some sort of a personal life. Oh well......I will be out of school soon enough!!!

School

So, another semester is under way and to be very honest.......I have the worst schedule known to mankind. Seriously......is it the end yet??? The only good thing about this semester is that it brings me closer to graduation. After this semester, I will have two left!!!!! Anyway....back to my schedule. It goes like this:
Monday - work from 8:30am to 3:15pm and then school from 4pm to 9:45pm.

Tuesday - school from 10am to 11:15am and then a 3 1/2 hour break where I have nothing to do, but can't come home because it is too far to drive, then class again at 2:30pm to 3:45pm and then institute from 5pm to 6:30pm

Wednesday - Work from 9am to 5pm

Thursday - same as Tuesday minus institute

Friday - same as Friday

Now this may not seem so bad because Wednesday and Friday aren't bad days, but honestly, 12 hour Monday's and 3 1/2 hour breaks between classes is enough to make me go crazy. Oh well, I guess I will just have to suffer through for the next four months or so!!! :(

DIETS!!!

The big D word. I have decided to start my diet. Actually, my whole office has set a goal to lose 20 lbs by the end of October, which helps becasue we are helping each other stick to it. So anyway, we started last Monday so it has been one week. We had our weekly weigh in today and I have already lost 4lbs. YAY!!! Good thing too, because I don't like dieting......in fact, I HATE it. Last Monday was super hard becasue all I wanted to do was eat and eat what I wanted. But, I did not give in and it paid off. I am super excited....now hopefully I can do well this next week!!!!

Bad Day

So today was a pretty crazy day. I started my day thinking that it was going to be a good day. That all changed when the earthquake hit. FYI, I am pretty scared of earthquakes!!!! Anyway, at about 11:45am this morning I was in my co-worker - Debbie's office looking at something on her computer when it hit. She screamed and flew under her desk and I ran to the doorway. My other co-worker- Nicole was already under her desk and when the earthquake decided to keep going on I decided that I needed to get under a desk as well. Only problem is my desk is kind of far from where I was standing. So there I am.....I then drop to my knees and crawl over to Nicole's desk and squeeze in with her. Now I had expected it to stop shaking after a couple of seconds, but no, this thing went on for like a minute....seriously!!!! So then, after it stops, we go outside and I attempt to make some phone calls. My phone, and apparently everyone else's, was not working, so I could not get a hold of anyone. I found out that the earthquake was centered in Chino Hills, which made me nervous, but I eventually was able to call home and find out that everything was fine. The original report said that it was a 5.8. I did later find out that the magnitude was actually a 5.4 and the epicenter was actually in Diamond Bar, which explains why my office seemed to have more destruction than my house. Anyway, after we all got settled down from that, I get this phone call from my dad and he says "So have you heard that Kotchman has been traded?" What....no way!!!! "Yeah, check it out if you don't believe me." I then go to msn.com and find that Kotchman has indeed been traded to the Braves for Mark Texiera. Now for some of you this may seem unimportant, but I am a huge Angels fan and a huge Kotchman fan. This really annoys me. Sometimes I think that the Angels make really bad decisions. I would like to give them a piece of my mind. Maybe I will just boycott the them. UGH!!!!!! I HATE BAD DAYS!!!!!!

Happy 4th of July

I want to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July and thank the men and women who have fought for the freedoms that we sometimes take for granted. I am truly proud to be an American!!

Today I had a blast.....it started out with hanging out at the beach with the family:

Then, I went to the Angel game and saw an awesome fighter plane......it flew over at the close of the National Anthem:

Then my night ended with a "BANG" as the fireworks exploded into the air......and to make my night even better, the Angels won....what more could you ask for?

Overall, I had a fun day and again, am greatful that I am privilaged to live in this free country!

Funny Movie

This is the funniest movie I have seen in a long time. I went to go see it yesterday thinking it was just going to be another somewhat funny movie that is really enjoyable, but not hysterical. Well...I was seriously wrong. This movie had me laughing out loud in more than one place. Now you may think "so what..I laugh out loud all the time" but I don't. Normally, even if I think a movie is funny, I don't really laugh out loud, but this movie was hysterical. Steve Carell is HILARIOUS!! Go see this movie....you won't be sorry!

Thunder, Lightning, and Rain...Oh Joy!

Thunder.....
Thunder is so great It makes for a great scary movie atmosphere. One thing that I hate about thunder, though, is that it sounds a bit like an earthquake, which by the way, I am deathly afraid of. However, when there is thunder, it makes a rainy day so much better.

Lightening....
Lighteneing is one of those things that I used to be very afraid of. The fact that you can still see it, even when your eyes are closed, is a little frightening. As I have gotten older, I have learned to really enjoy it. If it is a flash, I like to think that the world is taking a picture. If it is a bolt, well.....that is just awesome!!! By the way, did you know that when there is a lightening storm the safest place to be is in your car. Just thought I'd share that with you free of charge.

Rain.......
Rain is wonderful. I love the smell of rain, I love the sound of rain, I love being in the rain, I love watching the rain, etc. Rainy days are wonderful for sitting in front of a fire with a blanket, drinking hot chocolate, and watching a good movie. Unfortunately for me, most of the rainy days that I experience are at work or school and are not that enjoyable. Oh well.....one rainy day I am going to take a sick day and live my dream!!!!

Gas Prices....

This picture, I think, best describes the current gas prices. I can not even believe the cost of gas these days. It literally costs me over $40 to fill up my little tiny tank. And, I have to fill up like 3-4 times a month. That is approx. $120-160 a month. OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!

Huntington Beach

This week I have had the privilage of staying in Huntington Beach. I am dog sitting for some friends and am getting paid to kayak, soak up the sun, watch t.v on their huge flat screen, and basically just enjoy life. There is just something about being at the beach.......to be honest, I am not really a beach person, but when I am here I truly enjoy myself.
What a life!!!!

Spring Training

Okay......so I know I am so lame. I am writing about my Spring Training trip and I have been back for about a week and half. What a procrastinator I am. Anyway.........my trip was sooooooo fun. I went with my family......and yes my dad is wearing his Dodger blue. The Angels played the Dodgers and so he was rooting for them.

Also.....I was able to get some autographs........Torii Hunter, Jon Garland, and Mike Napoli. I am almost finished getting all of them.

Overall, my weekend was very fun. I got some sun, relaxed a lot, and enjoyed watching Angels baseball. Now I get to look forward to Opening Day!!!

Where I Spend my Days.......

So I thought I would show you where I spend most of my time.........The Dreaded Office!!!!!!!

This is the front part of our small little office and this is Ronnie who makes me laugh everyday!

Then directly to the left we have Noel's office......She also makes me laugh, but not because she means to.......just because she does funny things on accident!!

Then to the left corner we have what I like to call Sean's corner........which also acts as our "Kitchen/Break Room"
Then we have Juan's office.......He is not in here right now.......but this is where our boss sits when he is here!!

Then of course we have my office which is to the right of the front door.........and there I am busy at work (wink wink)!!!!!!

Now...last but not least.......we have the evil printer. I say this becasue it truly is evil. It deecides when it wants to print.......and if you don't put the right amount of paper in.....it refuses to print your papers the right way.......not even kidding!!!!!!

Well....there you have it......this is where I spend my days when I'm not at school and these are the crazy people that I work with!!!!!!

Being 21....

Being 21 feels so different..............just kidding! It actually doesn't feel any different than before. I did have a good time though.......I went to BJ's with my family and had a good time hanging out with some friends........

Overall, I had a really good time and I am glad that I am now officially a fully responsible adult. I am grateful for the life that I live and for the friends and family that support me in everything that I do. I am grateful that I have lived 21 healthy years and hope that I have many more years to enjoy.

The Next Chapter

So today is good because there are only 2 days until I turn...... the BIG 2-1!!!! Anyway I can't believe that I have been alive for almost 21 years......I will finally be a legal adult (according to the government anyway). I have anways found it very interesting that at age 18 you can go out and fight for your country and you can vote for the fine leaders of your country, but you can't go out and drink to celebrate (not that I would, but still!)

Anyway, enough with that.......I feel at this time in my life, as I reach "adulthood," I should make a list of what I am grateful for:
1.) My mom
2.) My dad
3.) My grandmother
4.) The Gospel

School Dayz!!

This semester I am actually finding out that you actually have to open your books. WOW!!!! What a concept. It is actually pretty amazing that I have gotten through 5 semesters without really having to open a book. Anyway.......this semester is a whole different story! The amount of reading that is required is astounding....and to top it all off, I have this really crazy teacher who makes you feel like a complete idiot. This is an English class where many questions typically have more than one right answer...........well let me tell you something..........there is only one right answer.......and it's hers!!! That was made clear to me today. She is also very impatient. The class went a little something like this.....

Prof. "So we have heard from 2 people. Does anyone have anything they would like to add?"

Few Seconds of Silence.....

Prof. "Okay...if no one wants to speak up then we will make this an assignment."

Literally like 2 seconds go by...

Prof. "Okay...get out paper and you can write your answer to me and when you're finished, turn it in."

Note: She wanted us to participate in the discussion after she had just told various people that their answers were completely wrong.

Yes......this is the fun that I get to experience every Monday and Wednesday!!! OH JOY!

First Message

So I decided that I would start my own blog so....here it goes. I am going to Cal Sate Fullerton and am majoring in Communications and minoring in English. I am really excited because this semester I am finally taking classes that I like. Also, I am working at an insurance agency which is very interesting. My favorite part about my job is that I get to deal with crazy clients who get mad at me when their policies cancel because they didn't make a payment!! Go figure. Anyway...life is crazy and very busy but I love it
